[loculamentum] : Latin // noun // compartment; case; receptacle for holding things
A recognition and reconciliation of the often binary relationship between our thoughts and feelings, and how they may be in constant opposition during the process of coping with grief and trauma. This dichotomy that is present during the healing process can create a polarized inner world, filled with categorizing and defining memories in a way that is inorganic, lacking holistic acceptance, of the true nature of healing. [loculamentum] is an expression of the compartmentalizing that can be omnipresent in both suffering and healing - and is a reflection of the choreographer’s personal experience with trauma and loss.
[loculamentum] features a large-scale, interactive art and light installation, which is in constant relationship to the dancers throughout the piece.
Duration: 90 minutes, including one 20-minute intermission
[loculamentum] was created and presented in collaboration with A-Y/dancers and featured an Open Dress Rehearsal in Beacon, NY in August 2021 prior to its public premiere at the Hudson Eye Festival
